1996 BMW 7 Series — Tupac’s $1.75 Million Mystery Machine
🕶️ The Cool Car Guy’s Take
I was browsing the Manheim Auction listings in Las Vegas, looking at a beautiful 1931 Roadster, when I noticed something interesting — the seller was Celebrity Cars Las Vegas.
So naturally, I clicked over to their site to compare pricing… and that’s when I saw this.
A 1996 BMW 7 Series, listed for $1,750,000, with the headline:
“The actual car that Tupac Shakur was shot in.”
Now, I knew about this car years ago — they posted a YouTube video eight years back, and it’s since racked up 750,000+ views and 1,200+ comments.
And yet… it’s still for sale. Imagine that.
The comments say it all:
“Why’d you fix the bullet holes?”
“It should’ve been left like Bonnie and Clyde.”
“That car belongs in a museum.”
And my favorite — “$1.7 million? For what?”
I didn’t bother commenting there. Why waste a good opinion when I have my own platform?
Let’s get real — this is a 1996 BMW 7 Series with 121,043 miles.
Even with celebrity lore, it’s a $2,750 sedan on a good day.
The dealer says it’s been “fully restored to the condition it was in before the shooting” — which means they erased the very thing that made it historically significant.
The title’s “clean,” probably because bullet holes don’t trigger a salvage designation. But at this point, calling it clean is like calling the Titanic “lightly used.”
This isn’t a collector piece — it’s a PR stunt.
They could’ve listed it for $5 million, and the reaction would’ve been the same: shock, laughs, and zero offers.
The ghost of Tupac isn’t living in that car — but the car is a ghost all by itself.
Don’t get me wrong — Tupac was a legend, and the car is a symbol of an era. But when you scrub away the history and slap a luxury price tag on tragedy, you’re not preserving culture — you’re cashing in on it.
What I’m trying to Scooby-Doo and get my head around is this:
Tupac was murdered on September 7, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, and died six days later on September 13.
So who put 121,043 miles on this thing?
Even if he bought it used in ’96, I doubt he was living in the car and driving coast to coast.
There has to be a photo somewhere of him getting on an airplane.
There’s a mystery here, Scooby-Doo.
