🌴 WELCOME TO THE COOL GARAGE BY THE BEACH

WHERE COOL CARS, COOL PEOPLE AND GREAT STORIES COME TO PARK

I like cool cars.

I also like cool stories about cars.

And racing.
And road trips.
And weird automotive history.

And somebody doing something completely ridiculous with a vehicle that probably made no financial sense whatsoever.

That is pretty much the problem. 😂

For years, I wrote traditional blog posts as The Cool Car Guy.
Sometimes I still want to write something long.

But sometimes I just want to talk about one car, one video, one experience, one stupid idea, one road trip or one thing I saw that made me think:

Okay. That’s cool.

I decided those things needed somewhere to live too.

So I built a garage by the beach.

⭐ COOL DOESN’T HAVE TO MATCH

I can watch a Formula One race and be fascinated by the engineering, money, precision and insanity involved in finding another tenth of a second.
Then I can watch a WRX come sideways through a rally stage throwing gravel everywhere and think:

That is freaking cool too.

I watched the Formula One movie and my son-in-law described it as basically:

“The kids’ movie Cars for adults.” 😂

Fair enough.

But when Brad Pitt heads off toward Baja at the end?

I remember thinking:

I think that might be the movie I actually want to watch.

That’s the Cool Garage By The Beach.

Formula One can park next to Baja.
A WRX can park next to a Ferrari.
A $200,000 exotic can park next to a $5,000 project somebody built in their garage.
A perfect restoration can park next to something held together with questionable decisions and zip ties.

COOL IS NOT A PRICE CATEGORY.

  • Sometimes it is engineering.
  • Sometimes it is speed.
  • Sometimes it is history.
  • Sometimes it is the person behind the wheel.
  • Sometimes it is the story.

And sometimes something is just cool because it makes absolutely no sense and you can’t stop looking at it. 😂

⭐ THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF I PARK HERE

One day I might write about cars sitting on Rodeo Drive.
Another day I might watch a ridiculous YouTube video about an absurdly overpriced car and decide I have something to say about it.
I might find a forgotten car with a great story.

  • A strange auction result.
  • A road trip.
  • A race.
  • A cool dealership.
  • A builder doing something interesting.

A car that somebody thinks is worth $175,000 when every functioning part of my brain is screaming:

No. It isn’t. 😂

Or I might find somebody trying to sell a $40,000 car with photographs that look like they were taken on a disposable camera, developed at Walgreens, laid on the kitchen table and then photographed again with a phone.

You know the listings.

Twenty blurry pictures.
Seven of them sideways.
Four of the dashboard.
One inexplicable photograph of somebody’s shoe.

And somehow not one decent photograph of the actual car.

That is also automotive culture.
And I will probably have an opinion about it.

⭐ I GOT TIRED OF EVERYTHING HAVING TO BE A “BLOG POST”

Here’s the other reason Parking Spots exist.
Not every thought needs to become a 2,500-word article.

But 280 characters on X?

Unless you want to pay Elon Musk every month for a blue check so you can write War and Peace in a social-media post. 😂

And even then, nobody opens X thinking:

“Man, I hope somebody posted a 2,500-word blog article today.”

Come on.

And writing some giant social-media post is not much better.

It gets shoved into a feed. People scroll past it.
A week later you can barely find the thing yourself.
Then try adding 10, 15 or 25 photographs without turning the whole thing into a mess.

So I started thinking differently.

What if I wanted something between a social post and a giant traditional blog article?
Something with enough room to actually say something.

  • Enough room for photographs.
  • A couple of videos.
  • Links.
  • A story.
  • An opinion.
  • Maybe something for sale.
  • Maybe nothing for sale.
  • And its own URL so I could actually find it again later.

⭐ THINK OF IT AS A LITTLE 20K-CHARACTER AUTOMOTIVE RABBIT HOLE

A Parking Spot gives me up to 20,000 visible characters, up to 25 photographs, up to two supported videos, links and its own page.

That is plenty of room to get into trouble. 😂

I can write 600 words.
Or 2,000.
Or barely write anything and let 25 photographs tell the story.

I can embed a video and explain why I think it is brilliant.
Or stupid. Or both.

And six months later, when something makes that subject interesting again?

The page is still there.

I don’t have to dig through three social networks trying to remember where I posted it.

⭐ SOMETIMES THE PARKING SPOT IS THE STORY

A Parking Spot does not have to be an advertisement.

  • It can be.
  • If you have a car to sell, sell it.
  • If you have a business to promote, promote it.
  • If you made a video, give people somewhere to find it.
  • If you built something cool, show it off.

But sometimes the Parking Spot itself is simply the thing worth reading.

  • A story.
  • An opinion.
  • A memory.
  • A weird piece of automotive history.
  • A road trip.
  • A car you do not own and probably never will.

Something you saw at a race. Something that made you laugh.

Something that made you ask:

Who thought THAT was a good idea?

That is probably my favorite part of the whole thing.

⭐ SOCIAL MEDIA IS GREAT. I JUST DON’T WANT IT TO OWN THE STORY.

  • I use YouTube.
  • I use Rumble.
  • I use Facebook.
  • I use LinkedIn.
  • I’ll use whatever makes sense.

I’m not declaring war on social media.

That would be stupid.

That is where a lot of people are.

But I like having somewhere else for the content to land.

The social post can start the conversation.
The video can get somebody’s attention.
The photograph can make them stop scrolling.

Then the Parking Spot gives the whole thing an actual address instead of letting it drift down somebody else’s feed.

THE SOCIAL POST CAN BE THE ROAD SIGN.
THE PARKING SPOT CAN BE THE DESTINATION.

⭐ AND IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING COOL?

Park it. Seriously.

If you have something to sell, showcase, promote, explain, argue about, photograph, videotape or simply talk about — and it genuinely belongs somewhere around cool cars — that is what the Garage is for.

You already spent the time making the video.

Taking the photographs.

  • Building the car.
  • Writing the story.
  • Creating the business.
  • Going on the trip.
  • Running the race.

Doing the thing.

Give it another place to work.

A Parking Spot costs seven bucks one time.

Not because I expect every person who visits CoolCarGuy.com to buy one.
Most people probably won’t.
They can just enjoy the cars, stories, videos and other nonsense I decide to park here.

That works too.

But if you look around and think:

“I’ve got something that belongs in this garage.”

The door is wide open.

The price of admission is less than a round of mini-golf.

⭐ PULL UP A CHAIR

Somewhere around here there might be a Ferrari.

  • A drift car.
  • A Lambo.
  • An event.
  • A Baja truck.
  • A forgotten classic.
  • A ridiculous YouTube video.
  • A road-trip story.
  • A car for sale.
  • A car dealer or owner with a personality.

A car that definitely should not be for sale at the price somebody is asking. 😂

Or something I haven’t thought of yet.

That is kind of the point.

COOL CARS.
COOL PEOPLE.

GREAT STORIES.
AND A GARAGE BY THE BEACH WITH ROOM FOR ALL OF IT.
